Successful Harvest Supper

This year’s harvest supper, organised by the Friends of Silsoe Church, was held on 27 September 2019. There were 10 tables, all admirably hosted and this enabled just over 80 people to sit down to a traditional ploughman’s supper of cheddar and stilton cheese, ham and pork pie with chutney and freshly picked tomatoes from Silsoe Horticultural Centre as well as the cottage loaf rolls specially baked for us by Rogers at Meppershall. This was followed by home made apple pie and cream. To ensure guests got to know everyone on their table Sandy Grant had compiled an intriguing table quiz on the theme of ‘saints’; including pictorial and written questions. Once again it was very successful in getting everyone talking and the noise levels suggested all had a good time.

Pictures above show guests preparing to enjoy their harvest supper, while on the left they are clearly getting stuck in to an appetising platter of cheese, ham and pork pie.
