Messy Church celebrates Mothers Day

Messy Church celebrates Mothers Day

On Sunday 18th March the first Messy Church of 2018 was held, postponed from 4th March due to snow.  The Church were delighted to welcome more than 40 attendees who braved the wintry weather to attend the session focused on mothers.

Reader Gillian Kern welcomed the children and explained the activities on offer.  The children worked industriously creating beautiful keepsakes for their mums, including decorating a plant pot which was then potted with a petunia, making bunches of tissue paper flowers, creating a personal ‘recipe to make my mum’ and making a beautiful handprint card. The children also worked together to create a lovely vibrant new banner on ‘New Life’, which can be seen decorating the altar front over this Easter season.

Following the activities Gillian led the children and their parents in a very thoughtful informal worship, thanking God for our mothers and our family.  Than everyone  sat together to share some delicious homemade cakes, cookies, squash and tea!
Messy Church is a wonderful, informal way to join in worship with us at St James the Great and is held once a quarter. The next session will be held on Sunday 20th May from 2pm-4pm in the church.
