Easter celebrated in beautifully decorated Church

Easter Sunday this year was attended by over 90 people who were able to enjoy the beautifully decorated Church during and after the service. Assisted by many volunteers Ann Swain coordinated the decoration of the Church with a range of flowers, including some wonderful white lilies and different styles of arrangement. A selection of the floral arrangements is shown below.

Introducing her sermon Reader Gillian Kern read an extract from the latest issue of The Joppa Times (included with every copy of the pew sheet) that reported the activities of Peter. Gillian then went on to explain that Peter, like all of us, exhibited human frailty and uncertainty but she said that despite this he overcame his remorse from Good Friday and vigorously set about proclaiming Jesus as the Son of God. Indeed, her sermon emphasised that it is thanks to Peter’s energetic preaching following Jesus’ resurrection that we have Christianity as we know it today.

Following the service refreshments were served including some delicious individual cakes, which seemed to disappear rather rapidly.
